About the Project
This project was created to highlight and preserve Crete's priceless religious and cultural heritage. By bridging modern technology with timeless faith, we offer visitors an experiential guided tour. The audio guide brings to life the history of each church, local traditions, and the people who kept the flame of faith alive through the centuries.
Spiritual & Historical Heritage
The Heraklion Prefecture is one of the most significant spiritual beacons of the Mediterranean. From the steep hermitages of Asterousia and Agiofarango, known as the "Holy Mountain of Crete," to the historic monasteries of the plains, every stone tells centuries of devotion. Here, Byzantine art, miraculous icons, and monasticism formed the identity and cohesion of the local community.
